Description.
Mara was engaged to design and deliver community consultation to support the development application for the Kingsway Plaza redevelopment in Kurri Kurri.

Cessnock City Council requested post lodgement consultation to ensure community feedback was clearly understood and properly considered by the proponent. Engagement focused on residents, directly affected neighbours, local businesses and the wider community. The aim was to identify key issues, test levels of support and inform refinements to the proposal.
Engagement approach.
Stakeholders were identified based on proximity and potential impacts, including noise, traffic, access and visual amenity.
Consultation was delivered over three stages using a mix of digital and face-to-face methods. Clear, plain English information explained the proposal, potential impacts and where feedback could influence outcomes.
The consultation showed strong overall support for the Kingsway Plaza redevelopment.

-
Strong community awareness and support for the redevelopment.
-
Clear feedback that informed practical design and mitigation changes.
-
Council requirements met, with transparent evidence of how community input shaped the proposal
