Description.

From mid-2023 to late-2025, Mara led engagement and communications for EnergyCo’s Hunter Transmission Project, one of NSW’s most complex Critical State Significant Infrastructure projects. Our work supported both the design process and approvals phase of the project.

Engagement approach.

We took a clear, respectful and place-based approach to engagement with a consistent local presence. The project was explained in plain language, making it clear about where community input could genuinely shape outcomes. We provided one-on-one support to affected landowners and accessible ways for the wider community to stay informed. Feedback was tracked and reflected in design changes where possible.

Feedback from over 4000 engagement activities directly shaped alignment and access planning, significantly reducing impacts on private land and the community. Ongoing engagement reduced misinformation, improved understanding and strengthened stakeholder confidence.

The program was independently audited by Infrastructure NSW and received an Excellent rating for engagement quality, the first EnergyCo project to achieve this result.
