The Sanderling, Hawks Nest

A new residential development is being planned for Sanderling Avenue, Hawks Nest.

 

Located between Bennetts Beach and the Hawks Nest Golf Club, the proposal would provide 104 homes across 3 apartment buildings, each up to 4 storeys high. The design incorporates landscaped gardens, communal spaces such as pools and gyms, and basement parking for residents and visitors.

 

The project is now on public exhibition through the NSW Planning Portal.

Community members are encouraged to view the plans and provide feedback during the exhibition period.

About the project 

What’s planned?

  • Three apartment buildings (up to four storeys) on a 1.4-hectare site

  • 104 homes with a mix of studios, 1-bed, 2-bed, 3-bed and 4-bed apartments, including adaptable units for accessibility

  • Secure basement parking for residents, visitors, bicycles and trailers

  • Shared resident facilities including landscaped gardens, pools, gyms, and BBQ areas.

Development proposal

An environmental impact statement (EIS) is currently being prepared for assessment by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI).

The EIS will consider potential positive and negative impacts during construction and operation, and how these might affect the local community.

Key investigations include:

  • traffic and transport

  • noise and vibration

  • air quality

  • ecology

  • heritage (Aboriginal and European)

  • landscape and visual impacts

  • water and soil

  • construction impacts

  • bushfire, contamination and hazards.
