The Sanderling, Hawks Nest

A new residential development is planned for Sanderling Avenue, Hawks Nest.

​

​Located between Bennetts Beach and the Hawks Nest Golf Club, Mara completed the community consultation and social impact assessment for this state significant planning proposal.

Hunter Transmission Project
Consultation and Engagement

Hunter Transmission Project

The HTP is a critically important infrastructure project that will connect the Hunter, Sydney and Illawarra to clean energy of the future. 

 

Mara is delivering consultation, Aboriginal engagement, strategic communications and landowner liaison services through the planning approvals phase of the project.

Community sentiment

Maxwell Mine

We conducted a community sentiment survey to capture local perceptions of the Maxwell Mine, gathering feedback from residents, landholders and other stakeholders.

 

The results provided valuable insights into community priorities, concerns, and expectations, helping to guide engagement strategies and inform project decision-making.​

Workshop design and facilitation

Transport for NSW

We designed and facilitated a vision workshop to guide the development of the East Maitland Integrated Transport Plan, bringing together state and local government, community representatives and technical experts to co-develop a shared 2042 vision for transport and mobility.

​

The workshop produced a clear draft vision statement and four key pillars, providing a strong foundation for the next stage of planning.

Communication and engagement

Newcastle Interchange

We supported the construction of the Newcastle Interchange, a major project creating a multi-modal transport hub connecting heavy rail, light rail, buses and active transport. Working with Laing O’Rourke, Mara Consulting managed engagement, communications and issues management, building strong relationships and maintaining community support throughout the three-year project.

Community consultation

Bellbird Childcare

We engaged the community through information sharing and feedback opportunities, ensuring local voices were heard and considered in the Bellbird Childcare Centre planning process.

The outcome was a engagement outcomes report as part of the development application.

The Kingsway Plaza in Lang Street Kurri Kurri is proposed to be redeveloped.

 

Mara conducted the community consultation on the proposed development. This included a range of communication and engagement methods to support the approvals process.

Connecting with Country

Honeysuckle HQ 

In mid-2022, we invited Aboriginal community members to join the conversation about how local Aboriginal culture and heritage can be included in the Honeysuckle HQ development.

Uniting Charlestown Seniors' Living

The State Significant Development for Seniors Housing included consultation with the community and key stakeholders to inform the development proposal.

The residential aged care facility in Bateau Bay required signficant community consultation resulting from community opposition to the proposal.

Mara lead the consultation after a request from the planning panel for greater engagement.
