Glencore Coal

Stakeholder engagement strategy workshop

Case study

Client.

Glencore Coal

Services.

Workshop facilitation and strategy development, stakeholder mapping and SWOT analysis, strategic communications and engagement framework and a delivery roadmap.

Description.

Glencore wanted a more consistent, values-led approach to stakeholder engagement across its coal operations and corporate functions. The focus was on strengthening how the Environment and Community leadership team planned and delivered engagement.

Engagement approach.

We delivered a series of facilitated workshops that brought the leadership team together to reflect on current practice and define what effective engagement and government relations should look like in practice.

The sessions clarified priorities, agreed shared principles and set expectations for how engagement with communities, regulators and government would be planned, delivered and reviewed across sites.

The workshop informed the development of Glencore’s first integrated stakeholder engagement strategy, structured around reputation and relationships, planning and performance, and culture and communication. It also informed government relations strategies (NSW, QLD, National).

The strategies now guides how the Environment and Community team plans, delivers and evaluates engagement, supporting purposeful, consistent and clear practice and strengthening long-term community relationships and building stakeholder confidence.
