Case study

Client.

Australian International Aviation College (AIAC)

Services.

Description.

AIAC was dealing with growing community complaints about aircraft noise at Port Macquarie Airport. Even though many operators use the airport, the criticism and media attention focused on AIAC and were made worse by misinformation and online commentary.

Engagement approach.

A targeted media and communications approach was developed to regain control of messaging and rebuild community trust. It was informed by issues and stakeholder analysis and a review of existing communications, media coverage and council correspondence, and established a clear framework to address misinformation, clarify operational facts, and guide consistent media, stakeholder and community responses.

The strategy provided a clear and practical roadmap to manage ongoing issues and shift communications from reactive to proactive. It improved engagement with council and community stakeholders, strengthened complaint handling, ensured consistent fact-based messaging and supported AIAC’s reputation as a responsible and valued regional education provider.
