Social impact assessment (SIA), consultation for state significant development (SSD) planning approval and strategic communications
Description.
Mara delivered the social impact assessment and consultation for a high-profile school redevelopment requiring State Significant Development approval. The social impact assessment identified potential impacts and mitigation measures, while consultation gave stakeholders a clear opportunity to inform the design
Engagement approach.
The SIA was informed by research and targeted stakeholder interviews to identify potential impacts and mitigation measures. Consultation provided opportunities for the wider community and stakeholders to understand the proposal and provide feedback through a mix of digital and in-person activities, including one-on-one discussions, engagement website, information sessions and digital feedback.
Feedback and impact findings were documented and used to inform the project design and the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The SIA and consultation met NSW planning requirements, with community feedback informing design changes before the SSD was lodged and helping reduce approval risk. The work produced a clear, well-documented social impact assessment and outcomes report that supported decision-making and built confidence in the project.
